Backtest dollar-cost averaging on real historical prices — what would regular buys actually be worth today?

USD

Historical prices from CoinGecko’s free public API.

Dollar-cost averaging, tested against real history

Instead of guessing what regular fixed-dollar purchases might have returned, this tool fetches actual historical daily prices and simulates the exact purchases your chosen schedule would have made — same amount, same interval, real prices, from your start date to your end date.

How it works

For each scheduled purchase date, the tool buys $X worth of the asset at that day’s historical price, accumulating a running total of coins. At the end, that total is valued at the most recent price in the fetched range to compute your current value and ROI.

Frequently asked questions

CoinGecko's free public API — real daily closing prices for the asset and date range you pick, not a synthetic estimate.

Each scheduled purchase (daily/weekly/monthly from your start date) is matched to the nearest available historical price point for that day.

No — it simulates buying at the raw historical price with no fee. Real-world DCA returns would be slightly lower once your exchange's trading fee is factored in on every purchase.

Kept to a short, reliable list for now (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, BNB) — CoinGecko covers thousands of coins, so more can be added.
