What a vanity address is (and isn’t)
A vanity address is just a normal address that happens to contain a pattern you wanted — there’s no special property beyond that. It’s found by repeatedly generating random private keys, deriving each one’s address, and checking it against your pattern, until one matches by chance. The private key behind it is exactly as real, and exactly as important to protect, as any other.
Why the time grows so fast
Each hex character narrows the odds by 16×, since an address character can be any of 16 values. A 3-character prefix averages ~4,096 tries; 5 characters averages over a million; every additional character multiplies the wait by 16 again. This is why vanity generators cap out well short of a full custom address — the combinatorics simply stop being practical.
How this tool works
The search runs in a Web Worker using viem’s generatePrivateKey and privateKeyToAccount, so your browser tab stays fully responsive — you can stop the search at any time. Nothing about the search or its result ever leaves your device.
